Organizational Announcement - Heatric
We will be communicating a new organizational structure for Parker Meggitt shortly, which will include important structural changes as we continue to integrate and align our Aerospace Group.

As a preview to this announcement,  we wanted to share that Heatric, currently part of the Parker Meggitt Engine Systems division, will move from the Aerospace Group to the Filtration Group, which is a more natural home for this part of the business as they share common end markets and significant customer overlap.

Adrian Tattersall will continue to lead the Heatric business, which will now be a division within the Filtration Group.  Adrian will report to Andrew Spivey, VP of Operations for the Filtration Group.

The Filtration Group covers a comprehensive spectrum of filtration technologies ranging from macrofiltration, microfiltration, and nanofiltration to reverse osmosis. We do this by developing specialized filtration media and surface treatment capabilities for fuel, hydraulic, air and lube oil applications.

This change strongly positions Heatric for continued success. We are grateful for the work Adrian and his team are undertaking as the transition begins.  Heatric will continue to be supported by the Parker Aerospace integration team and full integration into the Filtration Group will complete in Q2 2024.

Leadership Meeting Presentation and Message Summary
Earlier this week, Parker Aerospace leaders presented information and answered questions for leaders from across Parker Meggitt. They discussed the Parker Lean System (PLS), the team member engagement survey and how to help teams be their best in times of change.

On MC2, we have posted both the presentation and a message summary that Parker Meggitt leaders can use to share the information with their teams.

Please note: The full presentation is hosted on the Parker Meggitt intranet in a section of the site specifically for senior management. However, the message summary worksheet is available to all team members.

Leading with Purpose
Building a better tomorrow

Introduced in 2019 in conjunction with the updated Win Strategy™ 3.0, The Parker Purpose is seen as a source of pride for the entire organization offering alignment and inspiration to all team members globally.

The new purpose statement helps to define our unique contribution to the world:

Enabling Engineering Breakthroughs that Lead to a Better Tomorrow.

Parker asked what distinguishes a good company from a great one? The answer; It's our purpose. We design systems, we manufacture quality products safely, we support each other in our daily work, we help our communities thrive. Every day, our team members have a role to play in helping to improve the lives of people everywhere.

As the global leader in motion and control technologies, Parker recognizes its pivotal role in driving change, and through our new purpose, we are making a commitment to work alongside customers to enable technology breakthroughs that change the world for the better.

Stronger Together: Leaders Visit Parker Meggitt Sites Across the Globe
As we continue learning from each other, our leaders have prioritized visiting Parker Meggitt sites across the globe. These visits are a critical part of the integration process and enable a direct connection between senior leaders and team members responsible for carrying out day-to-day operations.

There is a commitment to connecting in person – and this is vital as we leverage our strengths and build our shared purpose and culture. It is also important that team members know they are valued and supported, and sharing this message directly has been a great opportunity. Listening, learning and observing have led to a number of insights and enable the sharing of best practices and innovative ideas at a faster pace.

Collectively, our teams continue to amass incredible amounts of knowledge from site visits. Together we are identifying potential value and synergies – and leaders continue to be inspired and impressed. Having face-to-face interactions, seeing how the work gets done, and gathering understandings from the experts on the floor have all been extremely valuable – especially as Parker Aerospace and EMG leaders share strategic context with the rest of the Groups.

Site visits are also a great opportunity to hear feedback from new team members. Hearing from you is both powerful and valuable – and there is a lot to be gained from observing how work actually gets done. The overarching observation has been that our leaders have gained even more confidence in the strength of our combined organization.

Introducing Safety 360
At the start of a new year, it is a great time to recommit to our safety goals and responsibilities. As a  breakthrough objective, safety excellence is rooted in Parker’s culture and values. Fueled by essential safety programs that rely on the vigilance of every team member, we are all expected to embrace safe behaviors and attitudes to ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of every day.

What is Safety 360?

Safety 360 is a global initiative reminding us that everyone is responsible for safety excellence at Parker. The company is committed to maintaining a safe workplace and team members are committed to working safely, which is how we will reach our rigorous safety goals.

Vigilance and Continuous Improvement

At Parker, we want a safety culture of learning and accountability to reduce or eliminate work-related injuries and illnesses. We want a safe workplace for everyone, every day. To support this, any individual who violates safety responsibilities and rules is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination or permanent
suspension from working at Parker.

Parker’s Safety Commitment

I Commit to:

  • Never compromise my own safety or the safety of my team members to get the job done.
  • Actively look for hazards, promptly report them, and take appropriate action to warn others.
  • Be a good safety role model for my friends and family even when off the job.

Parker Values
At Parker, we owe our success, reputation, and legacy to a strong culture and the values that our team members aspire to each day.

We have a competitive and compassionate culture with a defined set of values that reflect who we are as a company. We believe this values-driven culture is a distinct competitive advantage.

We understand that an empowered, results-oriented organization must excel at engaging highly talented people of different backgrounds and perspectives. Respecting and embracing these differences enhances Parker's position as the world leader in motion and control.

Integration Team Leader Spotlight: Ann Theis
About Ann

Ann is the VP of Commercial and the Group Head of Commercial US. She is responsible for leading, influencing and supporting the negotiation of customer-facing, multi-divisional group agreements with key customers in the Americas, managing complex commercial issues associated with customers of group significance, delivering group agreement guidance, support and training to the commercial community and related functional stakeholders.

Ann has been with Parker Meggitt for 22 years, and has over 30 years of experience in contract management, logistics, trade compliance, and program management.

How does your integration team benefit our team members and customers?

Although Parker Meggitt has a pricing community, we currently do not have a recognized pricing function or group-wide core pricing metrics that identify opportunities to take action for improvement. Team members across the organization will benefit in the future, with each Parker Meggitt division having a dedicated strategic pricing function to lead Value Pricing strategy, maximize the division’s profitability and work cross-functionally to support business development, innovation and growth, contracts management and finance teams.

What makes you excited about the integration?

Parker-Hannifin has developed a class-leading Value Pricing framework and strategic approaches to four pricing value streams with distinct and mature processes and objectives. We are in the early days of beginning to deploy Parker’s strategic pricing framework across Parker Meggitt and are already yielding positive and financially tangible results. Many at Parker Meggitt are eager to receive training on the Value Pricing element of the Win Strategy and incorporate these strategies, tools and approaches.

What do you appreciate about Parker?

I am grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate with many Parker team members at facilities and virtually in meetings. Parker team members have all been very welcoming, informative, collaborative and generous with their insights. Team members have been equally curious about Meggitt as we are about Parker’s policies, processes, tools and approach.

Integration Team Leader Spotlight: Richard Morris
About Richard

Richard is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Airframes Systems, at Parker Meggitt. He is responsible for working with the Airframes team to develop and grow business accounts for customers, including Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed, Sikorsky, Gulfstream and others. His responsibilities include a variety of activities including sales, marketing, relationship-building, customer strategy and business development.

Richard began his career as an engineer in the Royal Navy, and joined Meggitt in 1997. In his time he has worked with sales teams across the organization and in both aerospace and defense sectors.

How does your integration team benefit our team members across the organization and customers?

The mantra of “1 + 1 = 3” applies extremely well to both Sales and Marketing as well as Business Development. We’ve got an opportunity to bring a broader value proposition to our customers and to take advantage of the combined attributes of the legacy Parker and Parker Meggitt organizations. If we do that right (and we will) then we’ll grow faster, together. Our team members will also have more career opportunities and a stronger global bench strength. We plan to raise the bar on what it means to be an aerospace sales professional.

What makes you excited about the integration?

Sales and aerospace are my passions – so I am very lucky to do what I do for a living. This integration gives us an opportunity to build something special. We’ll have the critical mass, talent and drive to become the most effective selling team in our industry. I’m super excited about being a part of that transformation process.

What do you love to share about your life outside of work?

Life is pretty busy, working for Parker Meggitt while my wife and I raise four sons. When we get some downtime, we enjoy travel, the outdoors, walking, running, rock climbing and I’m also a lifelong fan of metal music.

Our Integration Guiding Principles
The integration of our organizations allows us to combine and foster our talent, enter new markets and increase innovation, whether that’s about accelerating the development of new products or about the way we think.

Our new, combined whole will be worth more than the sum of our parts but we know that positive changes can be difficult. To help us keep team members at the top of mind, we’ve developed a set of Integration Guiding Principles that outline our values and ensure we stay laser-focused on our objectives. Capturing the Hearts and Minds of all our team members is the first principle because our people are the heart of our business.

You can learn more about these principles in the Integration Newsletter from November and December.

Parker Meggitt North Hollywood Announcement
Team Members,

We are pleased to announce that Parker Meggitt’s Flow Control Product Group, based in North Hollywood, CA, will become part of Parker Aerospace Fluid Systems Division (FSD), headquartered in Irvine, CA starting January 1, 2023. Both businesses have considerable expertise in the design, production, and testing of pneumatic valves for various aerospace applications. It has become clear, as we partner to learn more about our combined capabilities, that joining these two businesses best positions us for profitable growth and long-term success.

Flow Control will continue to be based in North Hollywood, with Product Group leader Jaime Rodriguez joining the FSD Division staff, reporting directly to FSD leader David Overholt. David and Jaime will continue to work closely with the Global Integration Team to ensure the continuity of future integration activities and that the location is fully transitioned from Meggitt’s Engine Systems Division to FSD in FY24.

As we position our Aerospace organization for growth and work to bring clarity to the future organization structure for the Parker Meggitt business, we will continue to use a collaborative and inclusive approach to decision-making, working with leaders from our newly combined team. We will also continue to move purposefully and with pace while remaining consistent with the simple principles which have guided us thus far:

  1. Maintain Meggitt’s competencies and success factors to enable continued growth and innovation
  2. Identify synergy opportunities and execute efficiently and effectively
  3. Continued focus on customers to ensure the continuity of service they expect from us
  4. Align with Parker’s structure of global operating groups with product-oriented divisions
  5. Embrace The Win Strategy to align with Parker operating principles

The combination of these businesses will accelerate our progress toward all these goals.  Please join us in supporting this exciting collaboration between two world-class aerospace businesses.

CEO-elect Jennifer Parmentier Delivers Parker LEAN System (PLS) Masterclass to Parker Meggitt Team Members in the UK
CEO-elect Jennifer Parmentier Delivers Parker LEAN System (PLS) Masterclass to Parker Meggitt Team Members in the UK

Last week, COO Jenny Parmentier, who is transitioning into the role of CEO on January 1, visited our Parker Meggitt colleagues in the UK. Jenny spent time meeting the team and learning about Parker Meggitt programs that shaped Meggitt’s rich history and culture over the years.

In both Ansty and Coventry, Jenny had notable meetings and tours with multiple business units, including Employee Resource Group Leaders who support culture and inclusion activities, and Operations Managers. Throughout her visit, Jenny commended the level of engagement and energy she experienced during her site tours and shared her personal career journey in the manufacturing and engineering world. In her valuable time with the Employee Resource Groups, Jenny reinforced Parker’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, stating, “You can have a career at Parker no matter who you are or where you come from.”

In her time with the Operations Managers at Ansty, Jenny shared information on PLS, talked passionately about the benefits of the approach, and shared the value that PLS has created for the broader Parker organization.

Remote Work Policy
As we position our newly combined organization for growth, we continue at pace to integrate our team.

The way we do things is crucial to this and we will be aligning the Parker Meggitt ways of working with our Parker global working practices over the coming months. This begins with our shared commitment to Remote work while optimizing business performance, strengthening teamwork and engagement, and continuing to shape our culture.

From January 1 2023 the current Parker Meggitt Remote working policy will align with the global Parker Hannifin working from home guideline.  This means that team members can continue to work flexibly should their roles allow and will be required to be in the office for a minimum of three days a week.

Of course, many roles by their very nature require our team members to be on site five days a week and the majority of colleagues are already performing their roles full-time at their site.

While we anticipate that the majority of team members will be able to commit to these arrangements from January 1st, 2023 we also recognize that some colleagues have important commitments outside of work, such as caring for children and other family members. We will work with these team members on an individual basis to support any transition to working a minimum of three days in the office.  This transition period will end on February 28th, 2023.

Should you wish to discuss transitional arrangements then please speak to your HR representative.

There may be some local or regional differences and line managers should approve all working from home arrangements and will need to ensure that at least 50% of the team is available on-site during the working week.

Your site leadership will share further information with you shortly, including Parker working from home guidelines and frequently asked questions.  These can also be found on MC2.

Integration Team Leader Spotlight: Adrian Plevin
About Adrian

Adrian is the SVP of Strategy Sales & Marketing for Parker Meggitt's aftermarket business - Services & Support, and is the Meggitt lead for the Revenue Recognition integration team.

He has been with Meggitt for 25 years, holding a variety of roles in Business Development, General Management, and other strategic, customer-facing positions.

His responsibilities include leading the aftermarket Sales & Marketing function, ensuring Services & Support achieve sales targets and engaging at senior levels with major customers to increase business, form aftermarket partnerships, develop preferred routes to market, and gain market intelligence.

How does your integration team benefit our team members across the organization?

We are focused on understanding how the combined organization can optimize revenue and margin opportunities through collaborative strategies - comparing contractual positions and identifying opportunities to leverage the combined benefits of our joint organization.

What does this mean for our customers?

We are working together to identify best practices and align these to provide a consistent approach. We also use this to leverage the best Customer position from a Parker Meggitt perspective. This can lead to us using the best pricing or contractual terms, but doing so in a balanced way to ensure we don’t negatively impact customer relationships.

What makes you excited about the integration?

The greater the portfolio of products, the more meaningful we are to our customers. The combined Parker Meggitt portfolio makes us a really important supplier to many of our Customers and will increase the number of opportunities we have. I’m sure I speak for all customer facing colleagues when I say this is exciting and a great opportunity!

What do you love to share about your life outside of work?

I’m married to Faith and we have two great teenage daughters and adopted Erwin, a retired guide dog (Black Labrador) two years ago. I like to be outdoors when not working - gardening, sailing or walking the dog and taking family holidays when we can!

Parker's Rich History
Arthur L. Parker founded the Parker Appliance Company on March 13, 1917, in a small loft in Cleveland, Ohio, along with his business partner, Carl Klamm. In the early days, the company built pneumatic brake systems for trucks, trains, buses and industrial machinery, as well as leak-free fittings for the pioneers of aviation. Through staggering setbacks and impressive achievements, Parker solutions have enabled countless technology leaps over the past century.

Integration Team Leader Spotlight: Mark Conlin
About Mark

Mark is the VP, Central Engineering (Process, Tools & Services), and is responsible for engaging and developing talented engineering team members, delivering effective engineering services, sharing best practices and enabling teams through effective procedures/tools. Mark has been with Parker Meggitt for five years and has more than 30 years of industry experience. He currently manages a team of 32 across four sites, including the Group Software Engineering team responsible for the development of safety-critical embedded software.

How does the Engineering and Technology HPT benefit the organization and our customers?

Our engineering teams across Parker create fantastic products to address customer needs. And, they can be even better if we can integrate our products more seamlessly into a comprehensive system. The Engineering & Technology Integration Team is actively identifying these opportunities and making connections. As the integration moves forward we will be ensuring that our “to be” state truly takes the best of Parker Aerospace and Parker Meggitt. We will also work hard to communicate what’s happening and ensuring our engineers are supported on their change journeys through effective training. I am excited about the opportunity to get to know the new teams, to learn new approaches and to create better ways of working.

What do you appreciate about your integration team?

To achieve a successful integration there is a great deal to get done, and to do this there has to be a willingness to speak openly, listen actively and to be prepared to do things differently. Tracy, Jim, Martine and I all share this desired approach and this allows us to make great progress and to identify some exciting opportunities.

What do you love to share about your life outside of work?

One of my sons is Type 1 diabetic and whilst trying to raise money (>£25,000 so far) for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (https://jdrf.org.uk/) I discovered endurance events. I have now completed over a dozen marathons and a number of Triathlons, including Ironman Wales in 2018. I can also be found in the Guinness Book of Records 2018 as the fastest medical device (insulin pump) to run a marathon.

Coming Soon: Parker Leadership Team Visits
One of the most important early pieces of the integration is learning more about the processes, communities and people that have made Parker Meggitt a leader in the aerospace industry. Now that we are one organization, Parker team members have plans to visit every site to meet the people behind the products as well as to build relationships and gather the strategic information needed to help our organization become larger and stronger. These visits started just after Day One, including meetings scheduled by functional teams that are part of the formal integration process, and many Parker Meggitt sites have already hosted Parker colleagues, integration team members and leaders.

If you have the opportunity to connect with visiting Parker team members, please know that sharing your feedback and knowledge is incredibly valuable and appreciated. We encourage you to share your site with pride.

With great enthusiasm, our leaders look forward to these visits. Thank you for your support during this time, and for welcoming visitors to your site as we move forward together.

Here are a few of the many leaders that will be conducting site visits in the coming months. We will be posting more information as it is available.

The TME is a cross-functional team focused on building an engaging integration process for our new Parker Meggitt team members. Providing a good experience, and keeping team members in mind as we join our exceptional organizations, is a top priority. The TME was formed with a focus on three main pillars – Culture, Internal Communications and Change Management. We also partner with other functional integration leaders to help understand the timing for change and align that with timely communication plans.

We've already done so much to be proud of - from coordinating the Day One events and communications, maintaining the Integration Portal, holding focus groups and surveys, and producing materials like the monthly newsletters...this is a very busy and accomplished team! And I've loved seeing Parker Meggitt and legacy Parker team members work together to make it happen.

What do you appreciate about Meggitt?

Meggitt’s successful historical performance while building a culture that puts people first is so closely aligned with Parker’s focus on Engaged people. This provides great opportunity for synergy and growth as we bring our talented and successful team members together. Meggitt brings a rich history and culture into Parker and we look forward to this journey together, now as a stronger team.

Even better, the curiosity and excitement from both Parker Aerospace and Parker Meggitt is stellar. The amount of emails or calls about a process we mentioned, or a tool that’s used, has been fantastic. It truly feels like everyone recognizes that this combination is powerful.

Integration Team Leader Spotlight: Martine Gagné
About Martine

Martine has 27 years of engineering and leadership experience in the aerospace and energy sectors. She joined Meggitt as the Chief Technology Officer in 2019. In her time at Meggitt, Martine has focused on developing and delivering Meggitt’s technology strategy and works with various Product Group teams to achieve these goals.

Her leadership has been critical in growth and innovation projects. She started her career with Rolls-Royce, serving in a number of roles leading early technology development & research, design & whole engine validation, product safety, and aftermarket solutions development.

Can you talk about our shared sustainability goals and how they benefit our customers?

Parker Meggitt has committed to spending over two-thirds of our innovation investment in technologies and products required for sustainable aviation and low-carbon power generation. This includes technologies supporting lighter, more efficient aircraft and next-generation engines, enabling the adoption of sustainable fuels as well as facilitating electrification. It is also becoming increasingly urgent to address the emissions from our manufacturing operations to reduce our carbon footprint.

The combination of our product portfolios, operational sites and expertise allow us to consider more comprehensive combinations of solutions for our customers. This creates new value and more meaningful contributions to the sustainability of the sectors we service.

What have you learned so far that you appreciate about Parker?

I have been privileged to visit Parker’s Fluid Systems Division, Flight Controls and Exotic Metals Forming sites while the US and really benefitted from gaining a better understanding of the scale of the divisional operations. I appreciated the time taken by the teams to host our visits in their busy schedules. We came away with a number of opportunities to share and collaborate on product and manufacturing technologies. These are now being consolidated with the great ideas generated by the attendees at the WWMM meeting in October.

As an engineer it has also been fascinating to learn of Parker's critical to safety inerting pallet system, which provides inert gas to aircraft fuel tanks.

Parker’s Fluid Systems Division in Irvine has been perfecting the development of their Air Separation Module product which generates nitrogen and drives its delivery as an inert gas to aircraft fuel tanks. Parker commercial fuel tank inerting equipment is used by more than 85% of the transport aircraft in production today!

New Resource for Leaders: Leadership Meeting Presentation and Message Summary
Recently, Roger Sherrard, President of Parker Aerospace, met with leaders from across Parker Meggitt to provide an update on the integration, talk about the synergies between the two organizations and share critical plans related to the joining of legacy Parker and Parker Meggitt systems and processes.

Building Connections and Paper Airplanes at the Worldwide Marketing Meeting
From October 4-7, business development and marketing leaders from Parker Aerospace and Parker Meggitt met in Irvine, CA, for the Worldwide Marketing Meeting. The agenda for the meeting included sessions on growth and business expansion, culture and virtues, the future of the aerospace industry, and how to build strategic business partnerships between legacy Parker teams and our new Meggitt team members. Presenters included Parker Aerospace President Roger Sherrard, Eviation President Gregory Davis, Managing Director of the AeroDynamic Advisory, Kevin Michaels, editors from Aviation Week, and executives from across Parker Hannifin.

This was the first meeting of the newly combined team, and the energy was palpable.   Participants not only learned more about the product offerings of the newly expanded aerospace portfolio, they also focused on innovation and building connections with each other.

“As one of the first combined events after the Day One launch of the Parker Meggitt integration, I was very excited to see the teams coming together,” said Austin Major, Business Development & Global Support Group Vice President. “The four days we spent together were incredibly valuable. Everyone was eager to learn about new products and services, and there was a real sense of hope, optimism and shared purpose about the ways that we will grow together. It was the first time many of us had met in person, but it felt like we were already acting as one team.”

In addition to presentations from Parker executives and industry leaders, attendees gathered for team-building events and dinners. One of the conference highlights was a team paper airplane contest that had people working together to build and fly paper airplanes through the hallways.

Integration Team Leader Spotlight: Ben van Sleeuwen
About Ben

Ben has 20 years experience in the Aerospace industry. He started at Parker in 2012, and has been in the lead Group BD role since 2017. In his time at Parker, Ben has shown that he is a strong leader and a fierce customer advocate. Ben joined Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems in Coventry in 2003, which became Meggitt in 2004. Technically, he has only worked for one company his whole career, now that Meggitt is part of Parker!

Tell us about the Innovation & Growth HPT for the integration

To accelerate our growth and create opportunities beyond the classical integration levers, we have formed an ‘Innovation & Growth’ High Performance Team (I&G) that is being led by Martine Gagné and me.

The objective of this team is to generate new opportunities for growth & margin expansion. This is made possible by the combination of our products, technologies and services across the global Parker Hannifin organization, as the intent is to look for synergies between Parker Meggitt and the entirety of the Parker corporation. We are implementing a funnel process where we capture, evaluate and select I&G ideas that can be implemented in any of the Parker businesses. Everyone is welcome to provide ideas through a website that we will be announcing shortly!

How does your work on the I&G HPT benefit our customers?

A great example of the complementary nature of our technology is the fact that between Parker legacy and Parker Meggitt businesses we are currently active in eight different Airbus ZeroE technology pursuits. We can now combine, for example, the sensing expertise from the Parker Meggitt Power & Sensing business together with the Fuel Gauging competency from the Fluid Systems Division (FSD) to make breakthrough ZeroE applications.

What do you appreciate about Meggitt?

Parker Meggitt Fire & Safety product group has developed a clean agent to extinguish fires, called VERDAGENT. This product has the potential to displace Halon which needs to be replaced in the near future as the primary agent as it has a detrimental impact on the ozone and climate. It is impressive to see that F&S managed to create its own agent. This innovation by F&S has enormous potential in the Aviation industry.
