PTFE FlexiLip™ for Rotary Shaft Sealing

REPLACEMENT AND ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT SEALS FOR
COMPRESSORS | CRYOGENICS | FDA & CLEAN GRADE MACHINERY | FOOD PROCESSING | PHARMACEUTICAL EQUIPMENT | ROBOTICS | ROTARY UNIONS | STEERING CYLINDERS | SWIVELS | VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEMS
PTFE FlexiLip™ seals are used in rotary applications that permit frictional interference sealing under moderate speed and low pressure operating parameters.
Rapid prototyping.  In addition to performance suitability, the FlexiLip is attractive for rapid prototyping and as a cost-effective, high production solution due to short lead times and manufacturing efficiencies afforded by availability of standard tooling.

Construction. The FlexiLip seal  body is machined from a wide variety of PTFE composites and other machinable plastic materials. Its ID lip seals dynamically on a shaft and an elastomeric O-ring on its OD for a static, non-rotating, interference fit in a bore.   FlexiLip Features

Standard O-ring options are fluorocarbon, silicone, nitrile and EPDM. This broad foundation of O-ring and PTFE materials can be tailored to suit nearly all applications. FlexiLip profiles are precision manufactured to fit inch-fractional and metric gland geometries. Standardized tooling and machining efficiencies make FlexiLip seals a cost-effective, high production solution.

PTFE Seal Body.  FlexiLip profiles are typically made from PTFE-based and other high-performance polymer plastics, often with special additives or fillers to enhance, for example, wear resistance or high-temperature strength. PTFE offers excellent inherent low friction characteristics and an outstanding high degree of chemical inertness which makes it compatible with nearly all fluids and chemicals. Integrated metal bands (301-SS) are recommended for extreme temperatures and/or shaft diameters >4 inches (ex LFN-S shown).

Elastomer O-Ring OD. Rotary FlexiLip seals feature an O-ring on the OD to keep the seal fixed in the bore as the shaft rotates. Virtually any O-ring material can be supplied with a custom rotary FlexiLip, but a fluorocarbon material is standard.

Lip Styles and Configurations: FlexiLip profiles are engineered to accommodate a variety of sealing and exclusion requirements and are available in a range of lip styles and single, multliple/ redundant lip configurations.

  • Machined and mandrel-formed primary sealing lips which minimizing friction
  • Excluder lips prevent ingress of contaminating particles
