Point-of-care testing (POCT) is a rapidly expanding segment of the healthcare industry, driven by an increasingly diverse requirement for advances in medical diagnostic equipment that can be used at or near the point of care.
Development of a POCT system is complex and instrument developers often prefer to focus their resources on their core skills, such as improving their chemistries and cartridge design.
The process of integrating pumps, valves and sensors onto manifolds that interface with the cartridge can help accelerate development and allow the OEM to shorten their time to market. Manufacture of instruments can also be speeded up through the delivery of certified pretested modules direct to the production floor.
