Parker Chomerics has been helping manufacturers rise to the occasion for a long time. One proven solution is the line of fabric-over-foam (FoF) conductive gaskets, an excellent economical choice for low-closure force electronics applications requiring grounding and/or EMI shielding. By combining the conductive properties of an electrically conductive fabric and the conformability of a foam core construction, the Chomerics SOFT-SHIELD® FoF product family ensures both high conductivity and reliability. The SOFT-SHIELD® 3500 FoF gaskets use a urethane foam core and is ideal for most applications. However, for high temperature applications, Chomerics developed SOFT-SHIELD® 3700 FoF gaskets with a silicone core to withstand higher operating temperatures than urethane is rated for. Silicone FoF products have historically only been available in rectangular profiles, until now!
Design flexibility and proven performance
New to the SOFT-SHIELD product family is SOFT-SHIELD® 3800, layering design flexibility and customization on top of proven performance. Available in complex and unique non-rectangular shapes, SOFT-SHIELD 3800 enables customers to create more involved profiles to fit any size or shape requirement without sacrificing high temperature durability. SOFT-SHIELD 3800 is comprised of an electrically conductive nickel-plated copper polyester taffeta weave fabric wrapped around open cell silicone foam. This wrap-around technology grounds the gasket from point to point, creating an electrically conductive path used for RF grounding.

Both SOFT-SHIELD 3700 and SOFT-SHIELD 3800 are low-cost solutions to electrical grounding for electronics applications across a number of industries. With an operating temperature range up to 125°C, they are ideal for applications exposed to high temperatures where a UL 94 V-0 requirement exists.

These products can be found in many home connectivity and whole home internet solutions, including both regular and high-performance Wi-Fi routers and mesh systems. They are compatible with Wi-Fi 6 devices, which can achieve higher data transfer speeds, and the upcoming Wi-Fi 7 generation of products which will make speeds even faster and require systems to withstand additional internal interference due to enhanced performance.
