Downforce Compressor
Compressors are essential to automate pneumatic downforce control within planters. If the planter is equipped with air bags, the air compressor, powered by the tractor hydraulics, ties into the existing air bags to control downforce on the planter. Therefore, a compressor must be able to deliver large quantities of air air constantly, especially during peak work cycles. Maximum air flow is key which can deliver up to eight times the air flow compared to a electrically driven air compressor, allowing for more and faster downforce changes to be made.
Parker’s “plug and play” hydraulically-driven compressor solution for downforce systems, not only reduces an OEM's up-front design investment but also reduces assembly and test times when integrating it onto the equipment during production. It is clear during our conversations, OEMs are appreciative that it is a proven technology within the agriculture industry and they see the value of Parker’s  extensive capabilities specific to performance and duty cycle goals on the planter platform.
